Artist Statement
As someone who experiences the world through texture, rhythm, and emotion rather than sight, I’ve always found animals to be some of the most expressive and intuitive beings around us. For this show, I wanted to celebrate the creatures that fill our Texas lives—wild and domestic, familiar and fleeting. From coyotes to cats, longhorns to lap dogs, these paintings are my way of honoring their spirit, movement, and vibrant personalities.
Each work uses bold colors and thick textures to bring these animals to life—not just how they appear, but how they feel. Some of these animals we meet on country roads or city sidewalks. Others show up in the quiet spaces of healing, comfort, and companionship—like the ones that walk through the doors of this very building every day.
The fact that this gallery lives inside an animal hospital gives this collection even deeper meaning. It’s not just a place of art, but of care, of presence, of noticing the beautiful connections between humans and animals. I hope these pieces brighten the walls as much as the animals themselves brighten our lives.
